GLEETHERAPY

WHY GLEETHERAPY

I have over 30 years experience working in a variety of mental health settings and individuals from all backgrounds. I am passionate about the work I do and fully believe in every individual’s capacity for change.  I am a CBT therapist but I also draw upon my knowledge and experienced gained using other methods.

One such method is EMDR (eye movement desensitisation reprocessing). Sounds weird, and it is weird. But most importantly, it works. Excellent results when working with many anxiety disorders.

I encourage a relaxed and informal atmosphere in sessions and like to remove the all too often perceived complexity out of mental health problems and make therapy fun. Wing Commander Ken Wallis once said he preferred to apply the bloody obvious and common sense when it came to engineering and I use the same approach to underpin the work I do to yield some fantastic results.

JACK OF ALL TRADES - MASTERING SOME

Gary began working in mental health in Hackney Hospital in 1989 as a nursing assistant and progressed in his career to gain a degree in Mental Health nursing.

After qualifying, he worked in long term residential homes and crisis units across North London. He began working in Cambridge in 1999 for a charity for the homeless supporting individuals with mental health issues to access accommodation and prevent homelessness.

In 2008, he began working in Cambridge as a therapist in the Complex Cases Service - working predominantly with individuals with severe personality disorder. He currently works for the NHS as a High Intensity CBT therapist, working one-to-one with people who suffer from a wide range of depression and anxiety disorders.

He believes the main resource a therapist has is the patient and he will work hard to enable you to discover just this. Gary believes that therapy can be uncomplicated and fun, rather than a complex trawl through misery.
